Installing and uninstalling Copy Handler using the installer (recommended)

The easiest way to install Copy Handler is to download the installer version from our download section. Make sure that you have matched Copy Handler version with your Windows version (architectures should match - x86 is 32-bit, x64 is 64bit).

After downloading the appropriate file, just run the installer and follow the on-screen guide to install it. Afterwards you can find the necessary icons in Start Menu

NOTE: While it is not required, it is recommended to uninstall any previous versions of Copy Handler before installing the new one. If you install new version on old one, there may be some small issues, such as duplicate icons in Start Menu.

When you want to remove Copy Handler from your computer, and you have installed it earlier using the installer version then just go to Start Menu, locate Copy Handler and launch an uninstall entry. Then just follow the on-screen instructions. Uninstall option is also available in the Control Panel (Add/Remove Programs).

Installing and uninstalling Copy Handler using zipped version

Installing and uninstalling Copy Handler using the zip files is not recommended and should be attempted only by people who know what they are doing - I won't answer questions about how to remove CH which has been installed that way.

1. Download the zip version from our download section - make sure architecture of the zip file matches the architecture of your Windows.
2. Unpack the zip file in the directory of your choosing.
3. Run ch.exe (or ch64.exe) - the icon of CH should appear in the tray.
4. If you want, you can use the tools submenu of that icon to integrate Copy Handler with system

Uninstallation of Copy Handler in this case could be a bit tricky, so do exactly what it says below:

1. First of all, you have to unregister the shell extension from Copy Handler menu - if you don't do that, you can have some problems later (when trying to delete files),
2. In Copy Handler options find the "Run program with system", and set it to No,
3. Reboot system (alternatively you can just restart the explorer.exe process, but do this on your own responsibility),
4. Locate the directory to which you have extracted Copy Handler and remove it.
